On December 18, teachers from the Arabic Department of the College, Fu Jingjiao and Su Chuting, were invited by the Saudi Arabian Embassy in China to participate in the first “Arabic Day Academic Exchange Conference” held by the Cultural Office of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in China. The theme of the cultural seminar was “Arabic language - a bridge between civilizations”, with the Charge d'Affaires Abdullah bin Misir bin Tawalei and the Cultural Commissioner Ahmed bin Ali Zahrani attending the meeting and giving speeches. The media from universities such as Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Nankai University, Xinhua News Agency, China Arab TV, and People’s Daily Online were invited to attend.
The purpose of this exchange meeting was to emphasize the important role of Arabic in the communication of culture, science, literature and other fields, to affirm the historical status of Arabic as the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of communication among different civilizations, and to promote Sino-Saudi cultural and educational academic exchanges, and to combine China’s “The Belt and Road” with Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030”. The teachers of the Arabic Department and the officials of the Cultural Office of the Embassy conducted exchanges and discussions on Arabic teaching and research.
