On the afternoon of June 20th (ET), the opening ceremony for the American chapter of Nankai Alumni Association of Foreign Languages and Literature was founded in the club of Harvard in New York.
The participants were Gao Dongshan, chancellor of Nankai Alumni Association of Foreign Languages and Literature, Zhao Wei, president of the Association, Gao Tianming, secretary general and alumni in America who were Chen Defu, Zhu Baoyin, Yuan Haiwang, Zhao Zhenge, Xie Weihong, Wang Hong, Liu Yingmin, Zhu Youda, Liu Fang, Wng Limin, Ye Jianqiang, Li Bohong, Mi Xiaowei, Li Yiqaun, Chu Qinying. Foreign teacher Mr. Charles Ruas and Mrs. Zha Yuan, Li Li, Chinese Side Director of the Confucius Institute at University of Maryland, Ma Guozhong, vice president of Nankai Alumni Association.
Yan Guodong, President of the CFL, Ma Hongqi, vice president of the CFL, Zhao Guoqiang, office manager attended the opening ceremony in America. Wu Di, president of the New York chapter, hosted the ceremony.
Cao Xuetao, president of the NKU, who was visiting America, and more than 60 alumni in New York witnessed this historical moment.
The ceremony launched the Charter for American chapter of Nankai Alumni Association of Foreign Languages and Literature and settle the layout of the Association. Zhao Wei made the announcement of the founding. Yan Guodong and Zhao Wei grated the associate flag to the Yan Haiwang and Gao Dongshan who were newly appointed as the president. Afterwards, A group photo was taken with Cao Xuetao to mark the occasion.
Mr. Yu Yasi, a Fulbright scholar in the 90s and a professor at the Columbia University in America, presented valuable historical photos and his masterpiece Interview with American Writers to the Gallery of College History.
In the end, all alumni stood up to sing the Nankai School song and signed in the flag of the NKU for the celebration of the 100th anniversary in October.
After the ceremony, two symposiums were held in New York and Washington sequentially. While everyone expressed their gratitude to the NKU, the CFL and leaders of the Alumni Association visiting them, they hoped to make more contributions to the NKU. Besides, President Ma Hongqi gave a brief introduction to the recent development of the CFL and expressed gratitude to the alumni from America and beyond, for the concern of the growth of the school. And he sincerely hoped that the alumni would return to school to witness the moment.
