On April 18th, a delegation of Universita per Stranieri di SIENA, Italy, visited College of Foreign Languages in Nankai University. Prof. Yan Guodong, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages University, met with Prof. Massimo Palermo, Director of the Department of Teaching and Research at Universita per Stranieri di SIENA, Italy, and Associate Professor Carla Bagna, Director of the Language Center and Director of the International Relations Department and Dr. Ni Yang. Associate Professor Wang Kai, Dean Assistant of the College of Foreign Languages, Assistant Professor Yang Lin, Associate Professor of Italian Language, and staff of the Internationalization Office of the college participated in the meeting.

He highly praised the cooperation and high-frequency exchanges between the two universities, affirmed the inter-university agreement currently reached between the two universities, and hoped to further promote the exchanges among students, teachers and researchers, and jointly carry out research on the subject and further close the contact between two universities. Yan Guodong pointed out that among the 985/211 colleges and universities in China, Nankai University is the only key integrated university that offers an undergraduate course in Italian. Nankai University has the ability and responsibility to build an Italian major as a top-class major in the country. Universita per Stranieri di SIENA has the top Italian teaching team. The cooperation between the two universities is promising.
According to Palermo, Director of the Department of Teaching and Research of Universita per Stranieri di SIENA, Nankai University is one of the most important universities in China. The two universities have reached many agreements on student exchange programs. He is confident that both parties can further strengthen cooperation. Carla Bagna, Director of the Language Center and Director of the International Relations Department expressed his approval of the proposal of Yan Guodong and was willing to discuss ways to strengthen the exchange of teachers and research cooperation between the two sides in the future.
After the meeting, Professor Palermo gave an academic lecture on the topic of Properties and Trends in Contemporary Italian Language for Italian teachers and students.
