On Nov.11, 2017, a special day for online shopping revelry of all Chinese, NKU also had its big day-- a successful academic sharing session was accomplished by a great sum of doctoral and graduate students presenting their experience in terms of thesis writing, PH.D life management and internship considerations. It was a complete success of great value that showing us a feast of academic studying techniques for our references.

Firstly, in regard to thesis writing, Fangfang, a graduate student majoring at Law School, once worked as the vice editor of NanKai Law Review, shared her experiences of thesis writing procedures and publishing processes. She believed that thesis was a type of essay using systematic, specialized knowledge to discuss or do a research of a certain issue or some achievements, and it was a reflection of a person’s comprehensive character, or quality, such as the ability of information processing, logistic thinking, and language expression. And she illustrated that a successful thesis writing must include proper theme choice, formats and the essence of a thesis paper. As for Cheng Qian, a doctoral student, added that a good thesis paper can be recognized in two aspects, including a clear opinion with proper methods to approve it, as well as using concise expressions and correct format specifications. In a word, whatever research or field you want to do, please always be your own master of your destiny.

Secondly, theses outstanding former school mates also shared their understanding and thoughts about PH.D. To become a doctor, to publish essays was the most important task, said Pan Yuwei, a doctoral student. Besides, he suggested that students should enrich their social lives, for instance, participating meetings to show your achievements providing a good way to challenge yourself and harvest criticisms, which would contribute a lot to your future career. Regarding the question of whether taking the doctorate exam, Zhou Yanwei, also a doctoral student at school of Theory of Literature, put forward that you should take these questions into consideration: the basic capability of publishing thesis papers, the economic pressure of taking exchange programs abroad, and the bored doctoral life. In all, to lead a wonderful doctoral life, we should devote our diligence, efficient time management and positive attitudes towards challenges.

Last but not the least, we also got some advice about internship. Tian Qiuyue, a graduate student majoring in accounting, offered us some crucial information about approaches of finding intern jobs on the websites and apps like Zhaopin, searching some online posts of interview experience, and preparing an attractive self-introduction. Apart from that, you could also read some books in terms of job-finding skills to arm your mindset. During all these internship process, we should never, ever suspect our own competence, and always being optimistic about future.

That are the main contents of this academic sharing session, NKU’s doctoral and graduate elites demonstrated us some inspirations of thesis writing, PH.D living and internship finding. We hope you can really gain something from that, and make use of it to lead a better future.
